Black and White Table

Do you dream in Black and White? 

 To be honest with you,  I'm lucky to remember even parts of what I dreamt in the morning let alone to remember if it was in black and white or technicolor!  But I was inspired to do a black and white table when I found these black and white floral lace design plates.

For some reason they reminded me of old black and white photographs or a romantic dream.

My original thoughts where to do a black and white table using snowflakes this time of year, but since I fell in love with these floral plates - I didn't think they should go with snowflakes! 

 So I tried to go with the romantic dream feel that they gave me.  

 I partnered the black and white dish stack with the script napkins doubled up with black and white checked napkins tied with a simple black ribbon. 

  

What better way to add romance by making some book page roses from an old  romance novel!

I found a tutorial for theses paper roses on Pinterest.  It took me a while to hunt down the original post, there were many pins for this tutorial but many did not go back to the actual website to give credit where credit was due.  I believe I found the original source to be 100 Layer Cake. The only thing I did differently was to ink the edges of the petals to give them a little more definition.  To do this I just picked up my ink pad, mine was black but you could use any color, in one hand and my paper petal in the other and rubbed the edges of the petals onto the ink pad.   These were pretty easy to make using a toothpick to shape the petals giving them that little bit of curl. Once you ink the edges and curl the petals, they go together pretty easy with the use of a glue gun.

I filled my hutch with black and white plates, pitchers and accent pieces.  I also took some of my favorite photos and copied them on my black and white printer and stuck them in some simple black frames.

  

The only thing that was new for this table was the top floral plates and the paper flowers I made for next to nothing.
