Since we have all had such a difficult time as of late, I am reminded of the song that Julie Andrews sung in Sound of Music to lift everyone's spirits.
and I gathered a few of my favorite things together for this table.
We have warm woolen mittens!
and brown paper packages tied up with strings!
My napkin rings and mugs cover the snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes!
Did you notice those beautiful sleigh bells around the centerpiece?
I did not have any sleigh bells - so I put out a message to my girlfriends around the lake asking if anyone had any sleigh bells. Well, when my girlfriend, Linda, responded - Yep! I have some and I will drop them off - I never dreamed they would be real antique bells that have been worn around a horse many years ago down in Amish country. These bells have the most heart warming sound to them. I could just imagine the snow lightly falling and the horse clip clopping as they jingle.
So much thanks to my girlfriend for her responding to my request!!
My sister said I should have borrowed a kitten as well!!
But I just couldn't do that to my dog, Lucy -
she would have been very jealous!
Much Thanks to Chloe Crabtree at Celebrate & Decorate for putting this hop together!

Ann, I absolutely love your table. I love the traditional colors, one of my favorite things. The real antique sleigh bells are just amazing and what a lovely friend to drop them off for you to use. My 4 year old granddaughter loves Sound of Music and she sings that song very loudly! It will now be playing in my head all day long. Wishing you a delightful Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteAnn, your table had me singing, and I'm not just talking about the lyrics! So well done, from the mittens on the plates to the brown paper packages and snowflakes to the authentic sleigh bells (I always enjoy seeing people using antique and vintage items, it's right up my Panoply alley!). Great use of elements and design, as always. Happy December, and I'm so happy to be in your company on this tablescaping event!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I always admire and love how you carry out your theme at your tables to include your mantel and decor. What luck to have a friend with sleigh bell (antique no less!) to pair with your mittens and brown paper packages. Mother Nature came through too with your timely delivery of snow! As always a treat to hop with you, Merry December. ♥
ReplyDeleteAnn, your table was the perfect thing to bring us all some much needed Christmas cheer. It brought a smile to my face this morning, and I think I just may be singing that song all day now. Your table is just beautiful and every detail so carefully thought out. Happy December, and I hope that you have a most joyous holiday season!

Very creative as always, Ann!
Ann, your charming table has me humming the song in my head! Having hosted now 4 My Favorite Things Parties, your table theme really resonated with me. I especially love your wonderful centerpiece of wrapped packages. I may have to do that next year, but place little favors in each one for guests to open after the meal or take home from a party. Thanks for the inspiration!

ReplyDeleteAnn, talk about a tablescape which had me escaping for a moment a time which we live in. What a welcome relief to leave some difficult times and indulge in your story and song. Yes, you had me singing and I really was immersed into your setting with warmth, comfort and coziness. I could almost feel the warm woolen mittens and hear the jingle of the lovely sleigh bells. What a wonderful neighbor to help you out and provide you with such a unique piece as part of your lovely centerpiece. Absolutely enjoyed your tablescape with all of its wonderful song and magic! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYou are getting me in the mood to drag out my Christmas decor.
ReplyDeleteLove your table I too have a set of original sleigh bells that my sister and I share. They were given to us by a family member and are well over one hundred years old.
ReplyDeleteI love the packages as the centerpiece, that's so cute with the bells. And your hot cocoa station looks like something right out of Santa's workshop. It was fun hopping with you today.
ReplyDeleteOh Ann, I love your table. I also love to sing and that song is a particular favorite of mine. When I first saw the mittens I knew what was coming and I, too looked for the brown paper packages and kittens. It is always such fun to blog hop with you. Merry Christmas and many hugs
ReplyDeleteAnn, this table is a treat for the young and the seasoned. The mitten salad plates paired with the red/white polka dot plates immediately caught my and and how clever to tie your decor in with the words of the song. So much thought went into your centerpiece, it's so pretty. Happy Holidays and stay safe and well.
