We are in the midst of summer fun here at Corner of Plaid and Paisley. Checkered tablecloths and polka dots just scream summer dining to me!
I am participating in our Summer Tablescape Blog Hop today! If you have been following along and came from Linda's wonderful Boho table - Welcome!! If you are just jumping in here - all of the links to the participating table stylist's blogs are at the end of my post!
You will find me hanging out on the deck most of the summer so it seemed like the perfect place to set my summer table. I moved all of our deck furniture down to the other end of the deck and set up a folding table. This table was much narrower than my kitchen table so I had to scale back my plans a bit to get everything to fit on to the width of the table.
The pergola above my deck is always a bit of a challenge taking photos out here since it casts so many shadows - but I could not resist since we had several beautiful days in a row with full sun and very little wind or humidity. It was gorgeous!!
This is the table looking the other way - that is my kitchen window - where I stand and wash the dishes!! It makes washing dishes not so bad.
A Summer would not be complete without eating on a red checked table in my book.
I have had these adorable little plates with ants spelling out the word "eat " for ages, I thought it was the perfect time for them to make an appearance! I framed them up with red, polkadot rimmed dinner plates and a plaid salad plate.
Using my checked napkins that matched the table cloth and doubling those up with red polka dot napkins, I cuffed them with some rattan button looped napkin rings.
My little moss bird house and some fun polka dot mushrooms made up a simple centerpiece.
With all of the polka dots around, even on the glasses - I thought a cute little ladybug themed favor would be perfect for each place setting. I stamped these leaves and ladybugs out with Stampin' Up!'s
Hello Lady Bug Stamp set (available by clicking here!!) Then adorned the bags I filled with ladybug chocolates that I purchased at Home Goods.
Since the Ladybug is known as an omen of good luck and positivity - this should insure a wonderful summer for all.
Now it is time to see what everyone else has done for their tables! Let's see how many different summer themes have been created by the other table stylist's participating in today's hop!

ReplyDeleteOh, Ann....what a beautiful view! So what if there are a few shadows due to the pergola! I also like that at your picnics you welcome ants and ladybugs. So cute! I also like the traditional red and white checked linens. My very favorite is your centerpiece with the red and white mushrooms and moss. I love it! The woven placemats lend the perfect texture opposite the soft moss. I hope you have a happy summer!

Hi Ann, I so agree.....summer cannot end without eating at a red and white gingham table. I love how you combined so many playful red and white patterns and pieces to make this whimsical tablescape. The red and white mushrooms among the moss is the perfect centerpiece. Perfect when you see little black ants spelling out "eat" on the plates. It is the perfect picnic outdoors and officially announces summer to me. Your deck and the lake as a backdrop is such a lovely setting to enjoy a festive time. And the ladybug chocolate gift bags are such a memorable touch. What a sweet way to start the summer.
