Christmas season is upon us and we are decorating our homes to welcome friends and family during this time of peace and joy.
Today I am sharing my Christmas Plaid and Nutcracker Table with you as I participate in our annual Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop.
A big ThankYou goes out to Rita from Panoply for organizing this group. All of the links to the other talented bloggers and their beautiful tables will be at the end of my post. Please check out the other tables for more Christmas inspiration!

If you know me well, you know I am a plaid lover. (hence the name of the blog!!) When ever I go shopping with my girlfriend, Cheryl, she has to stop me from buying plaid - I can't tell you how many plaid shirts I have!! So to me -there is nothing better than a good Christmas Plaid!
I did splurge on these new Nutcracker plates, it is rare for me to take a trip to HomeGoods an actually find 6 matching dinner plates AND the matching salad plates. (and yes, they did have 6 with just one nutcracker on them - but I chose to mix it up and add in the plates with the 3 nutcrackers).
As I was placing these nutcracker plates in my cart I already had a source in mind for my centerpiece! My daughter, Allie, has a wonderful nutcracker collection! I swapped my daughter a day of babysitting for the use of some of her collection for a couple of weeks! (I think I had a win, win situation there!)
I promised her they would be back before Christmas.
So these guys took a little trip to grandma's house and are going back next week when we get together to bake cookies!!
Imagine my squeal of delight when I found this plaid nutcracker in her collection! But I think I actually gifted this one to her several years ago.
I loved all the striped, plaid and polka dot gifts on these napkins that I found in HomeGoods the same day I purchased the plates.
I dug out a couple of rolls of wrapping paper to make the little gifts and tied them up with some pretty little ribbon bows just like the gifts on the napkins.
As I was setting my table I realized I did not have 6 napkin rings that really went with this placesetting. I tried tying a nice red bow around them but that was too much ribbon competing with the ribbon on the packages. Then I remembered this bow die cut from Honey Bee Stamps that I had just used for making several Christmas cards, I combined it with with some evergreen boughs to make some simple napkin rings.

I know we tend to get caught up in all the preparations, decorating, shopping and baking but I truly do hope it is a time of peace and joy for all as we celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ.
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas!
What a delightful way to use your nutcracker collection, even the plates are on theme. I like the mix of plaids as well.
ReplyDeleteNutcrackers are such an integral part of Christmas tradition. It's so nice to see such a great collection. I was impressed with your creative choice of napkin ring holder. I'll have to keep that idea stored for later use. LOL. So nice that your daughter was a part of your tablescape and you got your Grandkids in trade. A pretty good bargain. Your nutcracker dishes are delightful and are beautifully balanced by the plaid charger. You are definitely ready for the Holiday Season with such a festive table. Merry Christmas!

Ann, what a fun and festive table - Aren't you lucky to be close enough to exchange decor with your daughter!! What a fun trade (and you got the kids, too). Your guests will enjoy sitting at this table, it will certainly put them in the holiday mood!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I have such a fondness for nutcrackers, and your festive table setting is absolutely charming! Wishing you a joyous Christmas season!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I always look forward to seeing how you style your tables and this one is delightful! I love that you mixed the salad plate patterns. They’re beautifully offset with the plaid chargers, tablecloth and napkins. Kudos on your napkin ring solution! How fun you got to borrow your daughter’s nutcrackers with a little trading! You always coordinate your mantel area so perfectly with your tables, love the wooden garland that swags throughout. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Wishing you a very Merry December! ❤️π
ReplyDeleteI agree! Where would we be without the birth, and then death and resurrection of our Savior? So much to celebrate during this season of Advent and Christmas! I love your nutcracker theme. I love nutcrackers, and I enjoy seeing bloggers with nutcracker collections and seeing how they use them in tablescapes and vignettes. The nutcracker plates are so cute, and I like how the borders are different on the plates with the nutcrackers on the border of the dinner ones. The little tartan plaid wrapped presents on your greenery runner are darling. I love that idea!!! I hope you have a very happy, blessed, and joyful Christmas! XO, Ricki Jill
ReplyDeleteAnn, your table is so darling. Love the nutcrackers. The plaid chargers are so pretty with the nutcracker plates. The napkin ring idea is so creative, works beautifully. How sweet to borrow your daughter's nutcrackers. The napkins tie in perfectly. Love the plaid presents with the evergreen. Love the cedar placemats too. I do miss Pier1. Such a fun and whimsical table. Wishing you a joyful holiday season.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I also love plaid and I have a nutcracker collection! The nutcracker plates are perfect with the mix of plaids. I have never met a plaid that I didn’t like. The napkins are so cute. You hit the jackpot at Home Goods. It is 60 miles to the nearest one to me. Yes, our risen Savior is the reason we can celebrate. Wishing you a most joyous Christmas ✨❤️✨
ReplyDeleteOh Ann, this is adorable!!! I love the nutcracker theme and all the plaid! The nutcracker plates are so cute, great find~ So clever how you made the napkin rings, they are perfect. The little packages you wrapped and tucked in the runner are so pretty and fun. Your daughter is sweet to let you borrow her nutcrackers, they are so special! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!

Love your nutcrackers Ann and so thoughtful of your daughter to share although it might me a toss up when comparing to babysitting grands. The napkin rings are genius and not copeting with all the gifts and ribbons. Great job there and on your mantle which I always look around your photos to see...you never disappoint me as it is always beautiful trimmed also. Have a Great Christmas and New Year. Blessings Always
ReplyDeleteLove your table setting and you must have the most fantastic daughter to lend out her nutcrackers this time of year. I'll be taking a few of your ideas for my table. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I agree that there is nothing better than a good Christmas plaid! I am a plaid lover too. I love love your table and you have styled it fabulously - its so bright and cheerful and just sings of Christmas. The nutcracker plates are so fun and there is no way that I would have left the store without them either had they been here. So happy that you were able to find 6 of each. The nutcrackers in the centerpiece are adorable and I love the little wrapped presents. The napkins are really unique and the napkin rings are perfect for them. Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I'm mad about plaid at Christmas or any time of year for that matter. It multiples around here at Christmas. Love the plate stack with your darling nutcracker plates. Your parade of nutcrackers make the perfect centerpiece. How sweet of your daughter to loan them. I once had a large collection of nutcrackers, but gifted them all to my niece when she way young and dancing in The Nutcracker. I never see them out, so suspect she no longer has them. New ones managed to show up here again in recent years, so I'm not without. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteAnn, what a great pattern of nutcrackers you found at HomeGoods! I really like the airy feel to your entire table. And the chargers from Kirkland's was a really good find! Love the napkins against the runner of presents and Nutcrackers to tie it all together. I think your exchange with your daughter was definitely a win-win.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't finished before I hit send. I wanted to also comment on the bough on the fireplace mantel, so pretty. I appreciate your talents among our group, and want you to know your plaid trademark would be missed if ever absent. I think it's time to rethink your friends you shop with, lol if Cheryl wants to curb your enthusiasm for plaid. π
DeleteWishing you and your family a very merry Christmas season!
Ann, your table makes me so happy! We are kindred spirits in our love of plaid. I am so happy that it is plaid season! The collection of nutcrackers are adorable and are perfect standing guard over your beautiful table. I hope that you and your family have a joyous Christmas season! Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors
ReplyDeleteAnn, I love love your adorably festive table! The mix of colorful plaids in the tablecloth, chargers, nutcrackers and the cute little presents is wonderful. I like the nutcrackers standing proud in the lush greenery and those dishes are perfect. The napkins and rings add the final fabulous touch. It's delightful to hop with you! Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI love this colorful table! Traditional Red and Green are my favorites for Christmas. Lovely job.
