Happy Haunting - Halloween Tablescape

Ready for some Halloween fun?  I don't think my little haunted tablescape will scare too many even though it has it's share of ghostly moments!

I am participating in our Halloween Tablescape Hop curated by our fabulous director of spooky fun, Rita from Panoply.

P

There are 18 of us participating and all the links will be at the bottom of my post.  So sit down with your  favorite fall drink and enjoy some Halloween inspiration!

👻👻👻👻👻

My barely scary. black and white table was inspired by all the ghosts that seem to be on trend this Halloween!

And what better home for the ghosts than a haunted house for both my centerpiece and my salad plates?!

I thought a spirit had made an appearance in the photo below in the the bottom left hand corner - but it turned out to be my thumb!!  So I covered it up with some special effects!

I started with a white tablecloth so that the spiderweb table runner would show up nicely.  I dug most of what I used out of the archives.

Here are some of the other items I used for this placesetting:

Black Scroll Wood Chargers - really old - Pier 1 Imports
White and Black Dinner plate with a scroll border - Ciroa/Veluto-TJ Maxx -years ago
Black plate - Ikea- last year
Salad Plate - Royal Stafford - Homegoods- this year
Flatware - Homegoods - years ago
Napkins - Pier 1 Imports - years ago
Spider Napkin Rings - Homegoods -several years ago
Black Wine Glasses - Dollar Tree -a couple years ago

The little ghosts are new - they are from Micheals.
My little skeleton web bowls are filled with some black and white striped Cheesecake Puff candy I found at a local farmer's market topped with a marshmallow Peep ghost.

I had to glue a couple of fingers back on to one of my treat bowls!! Luckily they broke off right at the joints and you can barely tell.

My hutch is the new backdrop for the table in my new home, you will be seeing it dressed for many different occasions.  Today it is following the table trend of black and white with some slightly haunting, fun stuff - like the plastic rat that scared my girlfriend half to death when we were packing things up to move!!

The square dishes on my hutch were gifted to me by Mary from Home is Where the Boat Is -  many years ago!  I was thrilled that they made it through the moving process with no problem!

Speaking of Mary and our other fabulous table stylists!!  Let's see what kind of spooky fun they have cooked up!!

Hyacinths for the Soul - Tartan Spice is Very Nice!

Just an FYI - this haunted house has been a challenge,  It lights up but not very brightly - it barely shows up in any photos. It also shed a blueish glitter dust all over. I kept getting it on my hands and then there were blue finger prints on my chairs.  Maybe I should have left them, it almost looked like a crime unit had been in dusting for prints!!  I think I have been watching and reading too many murder mysteries!

I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween!

In the past few years my interests have grown from fabric to paper and now to dishes too! I just love prints, polkadots, plaids and paisleys- hence the blog name.

  2. Love the black and white theme you have for this tablescape. The haunted house in the center of the table sets the tone. I'm a big fan of the Royal Stafford plates. They strike just the right note between elegant and spooky. Carrying the theme to the china hutch is something I love to see and this was executed brilliantly. Have a lovely Halloween

  3. Ann, I like your black and white vibe. Great details to set the stage for this table, and I love the idea of having that hutch to change up seasonally. The best! Happy Halloween!
